Problem Description

34% of falls that occur in hospitals happen in the toilet. While the standard practice is for nurses to accompany High Fall Risk (HFR) patients, many raise strong objections, citing reasons like privacy and independence. Thus, there is an evident need to balance between patient safety and privacy during independent toileting.

Solution Overview

Toilet Buddy enables real-time remote sensing of high fall risk patients’ postures, allowing timely intervention to prevent potential falls. Patients’ toileting data are also logged and reflected on a post-monitoring platform, providing insights for nurses to better understand patients’ needs and optimise ward’s operations.
